Fall 2002 - Present Texas Tech University - Associate Professor of Art, Former Associate Director of the TTU School of Art
I am currently the 3D Area Representative for the TTU School of Art. When TTU was planning the new $16 Million 3D-Art Annex, I assisted in the designing of the new Ceramics Facility. My “regular” responsibilities range from overseeing all operations and maintenance, to teaching all levels of Ceramics, beginning through Graduate. I also teach in the Foundation Core program, teaching Three Dimensional Design. Since being hired I have also taught in the rotating position in Graduate Seminar – “Professional Practices”. During the Spring and Summer semesters of 2004, I was the Interim MFA Graduate Coordinator for the School of Art.
August 2000-2002 Dahlquist Clayworks - Education Coordinator / Production Manager
The Clayworks’ Studio serves as a cooperative and well-equipped facility for the Des Moines Art Center, Drake University, Des Moines Area Community College, Grandview College, and Heartland Area Education Agency students. The Education Coordinator duties are overseeing every aspect of teaching/coordinating the beginning through advanced college courses for the previously listed colleges, plus five courses for the Des Moines Art Center. The Clayworks Production Manager duties entailed overseeing product development through product completion.
Spring 2000 Mott Community College - Visiting Assistant Professor
Mott Community College is located in Flint Michigan and this position was a long-term substitute Professor in the Three Dimensional Design area.
Summer - Fall 1999 Dahlquist Clayworks - Resident Visiting Artist
Visiting artist duties included but were not limited to: Teaching of Ceramic classes, working on public art, architectural restoration, tile work, and commission works.
Fall 1998 Michigan State University - 3D Shop Technician / Coordinator
This position was the technician for both the Ceramics and Sculpture areas. It involved the technical responsibilities of overseeing the three-dimensional facilities in Ceramics, Metalworking, and Sculpture in order to train students and faculty in the safe and effective use of shop tools, machines, kilns, foundry, and other equipment. It also involved the continuing programmatic upgrade of the Ceramic and Sculpture facilities, as well as regular facility and mechanical repairs.
1996-Summer 1998 Michigan State University - Visiting Assistant Professor- Interim Ceramic Coordinator
During the Spring and Summer Semesters of 1998, this position held the responsibilities of Interim Ceramic Coordinator. Teaching all Ceramic classes, overseeing the entire Ceramic Department, technical support. The previous years responsibilities included teaching Beginning Ceramics, Intermediate Ceramics, and Graduate Ceramics, Three - Dimensional Form.
Summer 1996 Herron School of Art - Visiting Artist / Visiting Assistant Professor
This position held the responsibilities of teaching all levels of Ceramics. All the different levels of classes met during the same time period to produce an environment of learning that had all skill levels influencing each other. This position also held the responsibility of overseeing all student help.
